Personal Bio

Geoffrey Injeni, PhD, is currently a member of the faculty (Accounting & Finance) at Strathmore University Business School. He is a Leadership and Management Consultant, focusing on enabling organizations be financially sustainable. He is also a trainer with over 25 years of experience in industry consulting and academia. Geoffrey is known for being consistent, reliable, adaptable, and supportive in his professional endeavors.

He has developed competencies in Public Financial Management, Investments and Portfolio Management, Risk Management, Sustainability, Corporate Governance (ESG), Strategy, Data Analytics (focused on Accounting and Finance), and Personal Financial Management (Private Wealth Management).

Work Experience

Geoffrey has been a board member of St. Francis Community Hospital since 2019, where he chairs the risk and audit committee and provides guidance on risk management, internal audit, and financial management. He served as a non-executive director at Mzima Investment Company from 2013 to 2021, overseeing investment projects worth over KSh 150 million in real estate. Geoffrey also served as the Head (Director) of the Strathmore School of Accounting between April 2017 and October 2018, where he formulated and implemented the school’s strategy for delivering high-quality professional courses.

From 2010 to 2014, he was the Head (Director) of the School of Finance and Applied Economics at Strathmore University, where he led the successful launch of the Bachelor of Business Science curriculum, significantly increasing student enrollment. Geoffrey also played a pivotal role as a member of the management board and chairman of Mzima Springs SACCO from 2002 to 2015, where he introduced strategic initiatives that grew deposits from KSh 9 million to KSh 150 million, with SACCO membership increasing from 100 to over 600. He began his industry career at Health Management Solutions (Defunct) in 1998, serving as a Credit Controller and later Financial Accountant, managing financial reporting and client medical funds.

As a Leadership and Management Consultant, Geoffrey supports business owners and managers in business planning, strategy, financial policy development, and internal control systems. His expertise includes preparing financial sustainability and corporate governance reports, conducting cost estimation, business model assessments, and financial health evaluations. He has consulted for various organizations, including the United Nations, and has developed curricula for Strathmore University and KASNEB. He has also contributed content for professional bodies like ICPAK, ICIFA, and UNITAR.

Geoffrey delivers high-quality training in Leadership and Management, focusing on Corporate Governance, Sustainability, Finance for Non-Finance Executives, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Risk Management, and Public and Personal Financial Management.

Since joining Strathmore Business School as a faculty member in 2014, Geoffrey has facilitated sessions in Financial and Managerial Accounting, Financial Management, International Finance, Project Finance, Portfolio and Investment Analysis, and Financial Risk Management for undergraduate and graduate students, including those in the MBA programs for Healthcare Management, Agribusiness, and Development Finance. He has also been involved in supervising and grading research for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Since 2001, Geoffrey has facilitated similar subject areas in professional programs such as CPA, ACCA, and CFA.

His teaching, training, and research have given him insights into various sectors, including Public Health, Agriculture, Tourism, and Education.

Professional Engagements

Geoffrey is a fellow of ICPAK and ACCA, and a member of ICIFA, CFA® Institute, and CFA® East Africa. He is a member of the Professional Standards Committee (PSC) and a trainer with the Technical Services of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). Previously, Geoffrey served on the Education and Research Committee of the Institute of Chartered Investment Financial Analysts (ICIFA) and the Research and Development Committee of ICPAK. Additionally, he was a member of the Kenya Advisory Council of ACCA.

Education

Geoffrey holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Strathmore University (2021), with his research focusing on Integrated Reporting. He also holds a Master of Commerce in Finance (2010) and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance (2007) from Strathmore University. Additionally, he earned a B.Sc. in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, UK (2006).
