Dr. Bernadette Mukhwana Wanjala holds a doctorate degree in Economics from Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM), Tilburg University, The Netherlands. She also possesses a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi, a postgraduate diploma in Modelling and Accounting from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague (The Netherlands) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Nairobi.

At the Strathmore University Business School, she is a lecturer and Acadmic Lead for Masters in Public Policy and Management (MPPM). She teaches public policy analysis and evaluation, public finance and development economics under the Masters degree in Public Policy and Management (MPPM) and Masters degree in Development Finance (MDF).

In addition to teaching, she has thirteen years of experience in public policy research and analysis which she gained while working as a policy analyst at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) and also as an individual consultant. Her areas of interest include public policy, public finance, development economics, gender aware macroeconomics, public financial management and impact evaluation. She has published more than twenty articles, including journal papers, book chapters and working/discussion papers mainly in the areas of macroeconomics, economic development and gender aware economics.
