Overview
Supply chain and operations management is concerned with the flow of materials, information and funds between suppliers, producers and service organizations, including customers.
It calls for integration in the procurement of goods and services, inventory management, transportation to and from production and service facilities, distribution of goods and services, and the information system infrastructure to support the processes. At the core of it is a focus on quality management, lean systems and information systems implementation.
Introduction
The Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain and Operations Management programme is designed to integrate supply chain, logistics, operations and digitization. Special emphasis is placed on Production, Logistics, Big Data, BlockChain, Automation and Artificial Intelligence, and how they will impact supply chain and operations management in the near and far future.
Programme Objective
The programme aims to expose students to a better view of the supply chain with emphasis on the flexibility and performance in a complex and uncertain business environment.

One of the biggest sponsors of BSCM is the Kühne Foundation. The public-benefit Kühne Foundation was established by the Kühne family in Switzerland in 1976 and is associated with the leading logistics service provider Kühne + Nagel. The Foundation is an organization which is active in operational procedures and initiates and implements most of its projects itself.
The sole donor of this public trust foundation, Prof. Dr. H. C. Klaus-Michael Kühne, regards his commitment to quality and sustainability as an important part of his social responsibility as an entrepreneur.
The Kühne Foundation is renowned for its initiatives to promote education, further training and research in the fields of logistics and transport. The purpose of the foundation is in the fields of transport science and logistics, the promotion of education and training as well as science and research. The foundation’s goal is to support and develop logistics as a scientific field.
Logistics is facing major challenges: Digitalisation, globalisation and the call for more sustainability are creating new, complex interactions that require pro-active shaping and integrated thinking.
The Kühne Foundation connects research institutions that provide scientific supervision of new developments and supports further education of the current and upcoming generation of managers.
Besides the focus on education activities in Logistics and Supply Chain Management for the commercial sector with its LEARN unit, the Kühne Foundation is also involved in humanitarian logistics with its sub-organization HELP. This unit offers training, networking and consultancy for logistics stakeholders in the international humanitarian sector. HELP operates offices in Nairobi, Amman, and Singapore.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- KCSE minimum mean aggregate of B-(minus) or
- 6 credits at O-Level, A-Level 3 principal passes or
- IB Diploma of 34 points out of 45
- A distinction in the Strathmore Entrance Exam
- Proven leadership skills in school and c0mmunity and outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities are an added advantage
Admission
All candidates meeting the entry requirements are required to sit in the University entrance examination in English and Mathematics and an oral interview.
Interviews are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8.00 am
Candidates are required to bring:
- originals and copies of relevant academic certificates
- 2 passport-size photographs
- a photocopy of birth certificate or National ID or Passport
- an exam fee Kshs. 2,000 entrance
