The Sisters’ Blended Value Project (SBVP) Graduates Sisters from Uganda in Leadership and Management Programmes

31st January 2024, Kampala, Uganda – Catholic sisters from different congregations across Uganda received certification for successful completion of the Executive Coaching for Managers Programme (ECM), Leading and Managing Sustainable Social Enterprise (LMSSE), Managing Social Enterprises Programme (MSEP), and the Foundations of Social Entrepreneurship Management Programme (FSEMP).

The graduation ceremony commemorated the achievement of participants from around Uganda in completing the Sisters’ Blended Value Project (SBVP) programmes. SBVP Management programmes are rich learning experience to each participant. Coming from diverse backgrounds and cultural perspectives added unique value to the learning journeys, providing opportunities for unique learning and expanding horizons.

The graduation ceremony took place at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Kampala, Uganda, and included remarks by the guest speaker, Sr. Grace Candiru from the Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church, who provided the history of SBVP and how it has helped to skill up sisters’ management knowledge. Dr. Angela Ndunge´ – Deputy Executive Dean Strathmore University Business School and the Principal Investigator SBVP expressed how sisters has always made her proud with their dedications in class. The opening note remarks was given by Director of the Strathmore Global Institute (SGI) Uganda, Ms Veronica SSepembwa while the keynote address was delivered by Dr. Elizabeth Gachenga – Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs at Strathmore University. Dr. Gachenga encouraged participants to adopt the Strathmore values of life-long learning and that the graduating sisters should continue challenging themselves. Theareafter the certificates were conferred to the participants.

The Sisters Blended Value Project (SBVP) is implemented by Strathmore University Business School in partnership with the Association of the Consecrated Women of Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA) and with generous support by The Conrad N: Hilton Foundation. The project is being implemented in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia. Currently in its third year, the unique programme is a fruitful collaboration aimed at transforming social ministries into sustainable social enterprises.

The programme seeks to build capacity within the Catholic sisters towards implementation of sustainable development practices, it does so in a manner adapted to the reality on the ground and the countries´ cultural and social diversity.  The programme’s core curriculum focuses on enhancing leadership capacity, analytical skills, and entrepreneurial and management skills aimed at enhancing professional practices and organizational effectiveness.
