Introduction
A course for middle level managers in the era of 4Ds: Demographic Shifts, Disease Pandemics, Digital Transformation and Donor Transition
The face of healthcare is dynamic and more complex than ever, with technological innovations, new treatments, new laws & regulations, and new types of healthcare service-delivery models. Healthcare delivery leaders must be able to evaluate and understand the impact of different healthcare delivery models and major service delivery programs in specific disease areas. This program explores the diverse and complex challenges that confront regional healthcare leaders and imparts the skills and frameworks needed to implement new processes, organizational designs, and leadership strategies.
The course takes a funnel approach starting globally and generally through healthcare environment and managing the institution and ending at managing the individual.
Programme Objective
This programme explores the diverse and complex challenges that confront regional healthcare leaders. You will acquire the skills and frameworks needed to implement new processes, organizational designs, and leadership strategies within your organization
Target Participants
In recognition of the special needs of senior leaders in the health sector, Strathmore University Business School will implement this Senior Leadership Curriculum for senior and middle level management in all sectors of healthcare – public and non-governmental organisation.
Programme Delivery
The curriculum is delivered through theme-oriented modules that combine facilitated sessions, practical case studies and skills building. The sessions balance knowledge and skills and are structured and delivered in participant cantered rather than facilitator led way. As such the course is highly participatory and based on principles of adult learning. Throughout the modules, participants can share their thoughts and experiences openly and learn from one another as much as they learn from the facilitators. In addition, every opportunity is made to invite guest speakers to share relevant and interesting practical experiences with the course participants.
Focusing as it does on leadership with management content, the course stresses the development of Personal Leadership Skills development in all its modules and uses the Adaptive Leadership Model.
Due to the busy working schedules of participants, LeHHO is flexibly designed to be delivered in a multi–modular format, offering you a unique opportunity to undertake substantial learning and development that can be fitted into your professional and personal life.
It adopts the blended learning approach (both in-person and virtual learning)
Modules
The overall training runs for a period of four months. It consists of four modules of 5 days each, conducted at 3-4-week intervals over a period of four months. In between modules, there are mentoring/coaching sessions. Within the six-month period after graduation, the participants have at least two mentoring/coaching sessions and one alumni meeting.
Module 1: Leadership
Module 2: Understanding the Healthcare Environment
Module 3: Improving Organizational Performance
Module 4: Managing the Individual
Executive Coaching & Mentorship
The coaching process involves both team and personal coaching.
Team coaching is mandatory for all teams. Using the Adaptive Leadership Model, participants identify a challenge in their organization that they commit to tackle within a specific time frame.
The coach helps clarify the defined actions and guide the group to achieve the measurable result. Progress will be documented in detail and presented during the graduation ceremony.
As for delivery, a total of 6 sessions each lasting 1hour 15min will be covered
Personal Coaching will be offered if requested by the participants. Using the wheel of life concept, each participant will identify personal goals and values to help them become better leaders. A personal coach will be allocated to each participant for a total of 3 sessions.
You will meet recognized thought leaders, skilled educators, groundbreaking researchers, among others. They will empower you to become the visionary leader in your career, your organization, and the global economy demand.
Classroom discussions provide conceptual frameworks for effective decision making, along with practical tools for real-life.
Programme Impact
By the end of the course participants will have selected and analyzed an existing challenge within their institution and using the Adaptive Leadership model, worked towards desired positive and effective change with clearly demonstrable results. In addition, the course will have enhanced their skills in leadership and change management, and reinforced the skills required to identify, design and implement effective interventions.
