Strathmore Business School’s Masters in Public Policy and Management Program alumna, Idah Adhiambo Asin and alumnus William Oketch have been appointed as the Director, Government Affairs & Policy, East Africa for Johnson & Johnson and as the Chairperson of the Communication and Multimedia Appeals Tribunal respectively.

Ms. Idah’s appointment to the American multinational medical device, pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods manufacturer is preceded by her diligent service at Kenya Airways where she worked as a manager for Government and Industry Affairs.

In her role, she is responsible for developing, driving and executing the Government Affairs & Policy strategy for Johnson & Johnson in East Africa as well as supporting the Government Affairs & Policy function across the three business sectors; Consumer, Pharmaceuticals and Medical devices as well as Global Public Health, Corporate Citizenship Trust and Global Community Impact groups for the East Africa region.

Idah is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and is well versed in law and policies across Africa. At Kenya Airways, reporting to the CEO, Idah was a key member of the Government of Kenya’s delegation, lobbying for and negotiating favourable bilateral air services agreements. She was also in charge of building and maintaining Government and Industry relations by representing Kenya Airways to governments and other stakeholders in 45 countries worldwide, including Africa, Europe and Asia and further advising on matters relating to Civil Aviation regulations in the various jurisdictions.

Hon. (Mr.) William Oketch, appointed as the Chairperson of the Communication and Multimedia Appeals Tribunal has professional legal expertise cutting across legal practice, governance consultancy and civil society advocacy arenas. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over eight [8] years post-admission legal experience as well as a professionally qualified Senior Resident Magistrate/Deputy Registrar of the High Court of Kenya for over five (5) years since 2012. He is a member of both the Law Society of Kenya and the East Africa Law Society.
