Dr. Everlyne Makhanu

Dr. Everlyne Makhanu is the Director, Undergraduate Programmes and Lecturer of Quantitative Business Techniques and Research Methods at the Strathmore University Business School.

She earned her Doctor of Education degree in Education Management from the University of South Africa (UNISA) in 2010.

She obtained her Master of Education from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton in 2003. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education (Science) degree in Mathematics and Chemistry from Kenyatta University in 1997.

She has additional certification training in IFC ToT Facilitation and Leadership Excellence Acceleration. She is a member of the British Education Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS); The Association for Faculty Enrichment in Learning and Teaching (AFELT); International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE); and Strathmore University Institutional Ethics Review Committee (SU-IERC).

Everlyne is a social scientist with interests in: Quantitative Business Techniques; Quantitative Research Methods; Quantitative Decision Analysis; Performance Management; Quality Improvement in organizational leadership; ICT Policy and its integration in education; and Education Policy and Planning.

She has over twenty years as an academic-practitioner, 10 of which are at the university level. She teaches academic units in the University both in undergraduate and Postgraduate programs.

She is actively involved in facilitating corporate training to Business Executives at the Strathmore Business School. She facilitates training in areas like; managing your Boss; Managing for results; Data analytics and management decision making; and Technology integration in education.

Her research interests, publications and supervisions pivot around the interplay of technology innovation and organizational performance; quantitative analysis and decision making.

Qualifications

Doctor of Education degree in Education Management from the University of South Africa (UNISA) in 2010.

Master of Education from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton in 2003.

Bachelor of Education (Science) degree in Mathematics and Chemistry from Kenyatta University in 1997.

Certificate training in IFC ToT Facilitation and Leadership Excellence Acceleration.

Everlyne has so far supervised to completion over 40 Masters Level dissertations from three programs: Master of Business Administration (MBA); Master of Science in Education Management; and Master of Public Policy and Management.

She served for 4 years as the Academic Director of the Safaricom Academy located at @iLabAfrica in Strathmore University.

In March 2019, she was selected as a Book Manuscript Reviewer on Digital Entrepreneurship in Africa for MIT press.

Everlyne has built her consultancies and research capacity having participated in several consultancies and educational technology related works both locally and internationally. Her current consultancy is implementation of affordable Learning Management Systems for Education Institutions and Capacity building of educators in trending teaching technologies.

In July 2011 she was a lead in implemented the HP Schools project in ICT integration in school management in Kenya. She was selected as a facilitator in June 2014 for developing OER Unit Development Workshop for using Moodle for school educators in Kenya. In October 2016, she was a trainer on Managing for results, and another Developing Total Leadership; ICT capacity building for STEM teachers and girls in rural Kenya.
