Dr Murithi is a Senior Faculty in Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Family Business, and an active Researcher and a Management Consultant at Strathmore Business School. He is also an Associate Editor at Strathmore Africa Case Centre, and a Coach at iBizAfrica.

Dr Murithi has over 15 years of experience cutting across the higher education sector, enterprise development, and management consulting across the United Kingdom, China, Ghana, and Kenya.

He has previously worked as an Adjunct and Research Consultant, at Ashesi University and Education Collaborative (Ghana), and as a Senior Lecturer at De Montfort University (United Kingdom), and Sun Wah International School, Liaoning University (China).  He also sits on various boards and institutions as an advisor and director.

A postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning from the De Montfort University in the United Kingdom.

Books Authored

Dr Murithi has Authored a book, ‘What Kenyans Must Do to Thrive: Strategies for Kenya’s Socioeconomic Revival’ and is working on other book projects.

Dr Murithi is an experienced facilitator and learning expert, who has developed curriculum and instructional designs for undergraduate, and graduate courses and executive programmes. His expertise cuts across entrepreneurship, innovation, and strategy, entrepreneurship ecosystems, family business, SMEs, business model innovation, design thinking, lean startup methods, renewable energy and public policy. He has supervised several postgraduate and undergraduate students. He has also facilitated several masterclasses and engaged in various panels and advisories.

He is multidisciplinary researcher interested in engaged scholarship and technology-enhanced scholarship. He is currently spearheading and involved in various research projects as the country Lead for Circular Microgrids Projects and Cultivating Entrepreneurial Ecosystems. Also, he is a Co-investigator in the Women Entrepreneurship Incubation Project (WEIP), and a Postdoc in the Sister Blended Value Project (SBVB). Additionally, he is the Co-founder and an active member of the Social Enterprise Research Group (SERG). Previously, he worked as a project Co-Lead in the Entrepreneurship Ecosystems Project, a focus area of Education Collaborative, with a focus on exploring, sharing, and implementing methods and best practices for entrepreneurship ecosystem development on HEIs in Africa using ecosystems on the continent. Also, was a co-lead for the Family Firm Community Project seeking to support innovation and digital transformation of family forms during the COVID-19 crisis and a member of the REBOUND Project that trained and supported Afro-Caribbean-owned enterprises in the East and West Midlands, both Centre for Enterprise Innovation, funded by Higher Education Innovation Fund (UK).

As a consultant, Dr Murithi has led various consultancy projects in Strategic Plan Development, Market Analysis, Market Planning, Social Business Model Innovation and Design Thinking. He is also experienced in designing curricula, capacity building, training, and facilitating sessions in business model generation, value proposition design, lean startup approach, design thinking method, social innovations, and Theory of Change.

He has also delivered keynote speeches, moderated, facilitated and participated as a panellist in various international forums. Additionally, his research has been published in notable accredited international journals and presented at prestigious international conferences such as the Academy of Management (AOM), Family Enterprise Research Conference (FERC), British Academy of Management (BAM), Institute of Small Business Enterprise (ISBE), African.
