Dr. Edward Mungai

Dr. Edward Mungai finds purpose in creating meaningful job opportunities for youth and building happier families worldwide. This mission aligns with his role as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Partnerships and Development at Strathmore University, where he leads efforts in strategic partnerships, fundraising, development projects, alumni engagement, and community service. Committed to fostering an ethical business environment and society, Dr. Mungai strongly advocates for mediation in resolving commercial and family disputes.

With expertise in entrepreneurship across Africa and emerging markets, Dr. Mungai has advised corporations, mid-sized firms, and family businesses on innovation, process improvement, and dispute resolution. He’s also a visiting faculty member at several institutions, including the Sauder School of Business in Vancouver, Canada, and a former Dean of Strathmore University Business School. His board roles include the Strathmore University Foundation, the Strathmore Dispute Resolution Centre, and the Strathmore Research and Consultancy Centre. He is also the Board Chairperson at Colony Plus Limited. Previously, he served on the board of Kenya’s Youth Enterprise Development Fund and chaired the board of the Association of African Business Schools.

Dr. Mungai’s academic background includes a Ph.D. in Business Management from IESE Business School in Barcelona, advanced degrees in Mathematics, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Nairobi. He has a keen interest in cybersecurity, recognising its critical role in the digital economy for individuals, organisations, and society at large.

Dr. Mungai finds joy in “connecting the dots” between people and organisations. His guiding philosophy is simple but profound: treat others as you wish to be treated.
