Building Resilient Leaders

Between 9th to 12th March 2026, we hosted Mid-Level Managers from Safaricom for the Mid-Career Talent Accelerator Programme (INUA). The Programme, a Custom Programme for Safaricom PLC, aimed to equip professionals with the skills required to thrive in today’s dynamic work environment, the programme created a rich learning space focused on strengthening leadership capability and personal effectiveness.

Over the four-day engagement, participants participated in a series of interactive sessions exploring critical dimensions of modern leadership. These included self-awareness and leadership styles, managing workplace relationships, emotional intelligence and resilience, building and leading high-performance teams, changing leadership, and executive presence. The programme emphasized not only theoretical understanding but also practical application, enabling participants to reflect on their own leadership journeys.

A key highlight of the programme was its strong focus on emotional intelligence and resilience. Participants examined how emotional awareness influences decision-making, communication, and team dynamics. In increasingly complex and fast-paced work environments, the ability to remain calm, adaptable, and reflective has become a defining trait of effective leadership.

Equally significant was the exploration of workplace relationships. Through guided discussions, participants reflected on how leaders build trust, communicate effectively, and exercise influence within professional settings. These conversations reinforced the idea that strong relationships are at the core of high-performing teams and sustainable organizational success.

The programme also addressed the realities of leading through change. As organizations continue to navigate uncertainty and transformation, leaders must be equipped to guide their teams with clarity, alignment, and motivation. Participants engaged with practical strategies for managing transitions and sustaining momentum during periods of change.

Another critical area of focus was executive presence. Sessions in this area highlighted how leaders communicate their ideas, project confidence, and influence stakeholders. Participants gained insights into how presence, clarity, and authenticity contribute to building credibility and inspiring others.

To bridge learning and practice, participants were introduced to Action Learning Projects, which will enable them to apply programme insights within their organizations. This practical component ensures that learning extends beyond the classroom and translates into measurable impact in the workplace.

The INUA Programme continues to play a vital role in shaping mid-career professionals by equipping them with the mindset, skills, and self-awareness needed to navigate complex organizational environments. By fostering purposeful and confident leadership, the programme is developing leaders who can drive meaningful change within their organizations and communities.
