The Executive Experience: Executive MBA Visit to IESE

Strathmore Business School MBA students together with Lagos Business School’s MBA students will be leaving to join fellow MBA students from IESE Business School, Spain for a one week Pan-African Module which is scheduled to begin on Monday, 14th October 2013.


The international module will begin in the auditorium of IESE South Campus, where the students will have a tour of the institution and have the opportunity to meet and interact with their peers and the faculty before they settle down to their class sessions. They will get to learn and interact with students from other parts of the world giving them an opportunity to network from a global platform, learn different cultures, have a feel of different environments which will help broaden their vision creating an international perspective, ensuring that they are at par with students from other international business schools.


The annual module gives students the opportunity to develop global business management skills and perspectives, which include Global business strategy, Global Marketing, Cross-cultural management, Mergers and Acquisitions. The programs which holistically provide both personal and professional experiences, ensure high interaction and include individual assignments, case studies, workshops, presentations and small-group learning activities.


The IESE Business School MBA program has this year been ranked 1st in Europe by The Economist. In fact the school’s MBA program consistently ranks among the best in the world, and graduates have high admiration for the school’s exceptionalMBA experience.


Throughout the 1st week the student will get to have a feel of learning in a world-class setting and be taught by some of the best Lecturers and Professors in class session on various topics such as:

·Developing Cultural Competences for Global Leaders by Prof. Yih-teen Lee an associate professor in the Department of Managing People in Organizations.

·What Good Managers Do? By Prof. Jaume Llopis senior lecturer in the Department of Strategic Management. He has served as CEO at a number of prominent companies such as, Nestlé, Moulinex and Grupo Borges.

·How to Build Teams of High performance where the Guest Speaker will be Mr. Ramón Alfonseda President of the European Former Football Players Association EFPA, a prominent Spanish footballer of the 1970s .

·Opportunities in Emerging Markets Case : Gallina Blanca Star – Africa by Prof. Lluis Renart

·The Global Economic Outlook by Prof. Alfredo Pastor who is professor in the Department of Economics and the holder of the Banco Sabadell Chair of Emerging Markets at IESE. His areas of specialization include the European Union, Spanish economic policy, the role of the state in a market economy and the Chinese economy.


The trip will not only be an educational tour but will also offer the students an opportunity to visit some of Barcelona’s tourist attraction sites such as The Montserrat, a rugged mountain which is one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in Spain, a tour to Futbol Club Barcelona which will be an offsite learning session to Barcelona’s professional football club and a Cruise & Dinner at La Barca del Salamanca among other sites.
