Strathmore University Business School (SBS) on Wednesday 5th February 2020, graduated 26 participants from the first cohort of the Absa Manager Essentials Programme. In partnership with Barclays Kenya, SBS developed a training toolkit for Absa new managers that was to be used in East, West and South Africa.
Through the Programme, SBS is training Absa employees in Kenya, Uganda, Mauritius, Botswana, and South Africa. So far, 100 Absa Group employees in South Africa, 25 in Uganda, 37 in Kenya, 25 in Mauritius and 36 in Botswana have been trained; with the first cohort from Uganda set to graduate in the next two weeks.
Mumbi Kahindo, Head Leadership & Learning Absa Regional Operations (ARO), congratulated the participants and urged them to put into practice what they had learned through the programme.
Speaking during the ceremony, Muriithi Njogu, Director, Support & Administration SBS said, “It is crucial to understand your team members and embrace their differences, this is the test of true leadership.”
By going through this Programme, new Absa managers can transition effectively from being individual contributors to team managers. On top of that, managers new to Absa are equipped with the organization’s management standards.
