Faculty Appointed to Head Vision 2030 Team

Strathmore Business School’s Adjunct faculty Dr. Julius M. Muia has been appointed by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta as the new Director General (DG) of the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat for a period of three years. Dr Muia replaces Mr. Mugo Kibati whose term ended in 2013 after serving for years.

Dr. Muia teaches both the Masters in Public Policy Program and the Microeconomics of Competitiveness Executive Program at Strathmore Businesses School. His wealthy expertise in economics have made a good grounding to the programs he teaches, which explore the determinants of competitiveness and successful economic development to enable both the central and county government to hone a unique set of skills that will help in enhancing county and public sector competitiveness and growth.

Dr. Julius Muia has previously served as the Secretary of the National Economic and Social Council at top advisory government think tank, Chief Operating Officer at HF Group, formerly Housing Finance, Unga Group Limited, and Lonrho Hotels Group among many other roles in a career spanning three decades.

In his new role, the Director General will be responsible for driving Kenya towards the realization of Vision 2030. The Kenya Vision 2030 is the national long-term development policy that aims to transform Kenya into a newly industrializing, middle-income country providing a high quality of life to all its citizens by 2030 in a clean and secure environment. The Vision comprises of three key pillars and a foundation: Economic; Social; Political and enablers and macro.
