The Chase Bank Library which was unveiled on Tuesday 29th November at Strathmore Business School was dedicated to the late Mr. James Gachui who was a board member of Chase Bank.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony of the ultramodern library serving a capacity of 150 reading spaces, Chase Banks CEO Mr. Duncan Kabui said that the library will be named the James Gachui Chase Bank Library. The banks MD, Zaf Khan added, I was really happy that the Gachui family allowed Chase Bank to dedicate this library to James Gachui, who was a mentor, a former director and a visionary of where he, I and Duncan wanted to take this institution.
I am humbled to have benefited from his wise counsel. In my first year as a new MD, Gachui often coached and mentored me as I weathered the seemingly uncharted waters. It is a great honour and privilege that we, as a bank, can give back in form of gratitude this token, for the immeasurable time he spent with us by dedicating this library to him said Mr. Khan.
The late James Gachui served as General Manager of Galana Petroleum from 1994 to 2000, he also held various positions at Kenya Petroleum Refinieries Ltd. in Mombasa steadily rising to Senior Technologist.
The bank primary target is the SME sector and for the second year running, it participated in the Chase Bank ILO Enablis Business Launchpad Competition. Gachui was one of the founding Directors of Enablis.
