Dr Edward Mungai, the dean of Strathmore Business School was appointed to the Government of Kenya’s taskforce on Alignment of the Higher Education, Science & Technology with the Constitution of Kenya.
Dr. Mungai quoted the appointment as an honor to SBS and Strathmore University fraternity. The task force was established and launched on 28th September, 2011. The taskforce will among other tasks, analyze the implications of the new Constitution on University Education (UE), Technical Industrial Vocational Education and Training (TIVET) and Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I); review literature on best practices from countries that have a two-tier government structure as outlined in the Constitution; undertake a comprehensive audit of all existing sessional papers, laws, regulations and other relevant documents on STI, UE and TIVET to inform gaps on the compliance with the Constitution.
Dr. Mungai is a mathematics, and entrepreneurship specialist with academic interests in entrepreneurship and innovation. He received his PhD in Management from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain and his academic attainment includes a Master of Science degree in Pure Mathematics, a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, all from the University of Nairobi.
His publications and dissertations include Employee Transition to Entrepreneurship: The Influences of Families and Firms (2007), case studies on East African Breweries Ltd award winning Senator and the Innovative Kenyan healthcare providers CFW shops. In Dec 2010, Dr. Mungai was appointed director of the Kenyan government Youth Enterprise Development Fund and in 2011 he was appointed a board director to the Association of African Business Schools (AABS) Board.
