Last week marked an exciting milestone as Strathmore University Business School (SBS) officially welcomed its newest cohort of undergraduate students during the July Intake orientation session. These promising scholars will be pursuing our three Undergraduate Programmes: the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Supply Chain and Operations Management, and Bachelor of Financial Services. As they take their first steps on campus, they begin a transformative journey filled with purpose, growth, and boundless opportunities.

The orientation session featured a powerful address from Dr. Caesar Mwangi, Executive Dean, SBS, who set the tone for the students’ academic and professional journey. “Coming to Strathmore shows that you are ready to be the best. Develop your vision when you are here—a clear picture of what you want to achieve by the end. Don’t think small, don’t dream small.”

Dr. Mwangi emphasized that success stems from disciplined effort and focused determination, not chance. His message resonated deeply with the incoming class, challenging them to approach their studies rigorously and purposefully.

The Academic Leads for each Programme reinforced this message, encouraging students to view their enrollment as more than just the start of an academic programme, but as the beginning of a comprehensive personal and professional transformation. The students were urged to apply five key things to help them become more grounded in the university:

  • Set ambitious, clearly-defined goals
  • Maintain consistent discipline in their studies
  • Actively engage with the university’s holistic development opportunities
  • Build meaningful networks with peers and faculty
  • Participate in extracurricular activities that complement their academic growth

The administrative team reiterated the university’s unwavering commitment to student success. Mary Weremba, SBS Undergraduate School Manager, highlighted the institution’s role in providing the necessary tools and environment for growth. “While we provide world-class mentorship and resources,” Weremba noted, “the ultimate responsibility for engagement and success lies with each student. We’re here to support, but you must be willing to seize these opportunities.”
