From October 21st to 25th, 2024, Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM) and Bachelor of Financial Services (BFS) students from Strathmore Business School experienced an insightful international module at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in Germany. This immersive, week-long program offered a rich blend of academic insights, industry exposure, and cultural exploration, equipping students with a well-rounded perspective on global finance.
The week began with an inspiring leadership session led by Andreas Emser and Perry Savundranayagam, who introduced the Leadership PPP Triangle—Practice, People, Purpose. This framework highlighted that effective leadership is rooted in purpose, strong relationships, and decisive action. Students were also introduced to the Golden Rule: treating others with respect and empathy. The first day concluded with a city tour, allowing students to appreciate Frankfurt’s unique mix of tradition and modernity.
On the second day, students explored the German Central Bank Study Center and the Money Museum, where they gained a deeper understanding of the role of central banks and the Eurozone’s monetary policy. The day culminated in a visit to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, where students encountered the iconic bull and bear statues—symbolizing market optimism and caution—offering them a firsthand glimpse into the world of trading.
Industry insights were further enriched by a special session with Fintiba GmbH, led by Lutho Kote and Celine Mwaura. The session provided practical guidance on studying and working in Germany, with Fintiba sharing valuable expertise in finance and insurance for international students and expatriates, expanding students’ views on potential career paths abroad.
Beyond academic sessions, students enjoyed cultural highlights, including a visit to Schloss Vollrads Vineyard and a scenic cruise along the River Main. These experiences added a cultural depth to the trip, allowing students to immerse themselves in Germany’s rich heritage.
