This year marks a significant milestone for Strathmore University Business School (SBS) as we celebrate 20 years of developing great African leaders. Over the past two decades, SBS has firmly positioned itself as a leader in academic and executive education, not only in Kenya but across the African continent.

On Friday, January 31, 2025, SBS kicked off its year-long anniversary celebrations with a grand staff event. The occasion was dedicated to honoring the invaluable contributions of the staff in making SBS a center of excellence and a trailblazer in Africa’s business education landscape.

During the event, Dr. Vincent Ogutu, Vice Chancellor of Strathmore University, reflected on the importance of setting high standards from the very beginning. He emphasized that SBS’s approach has always been to not only meet industry benchmarks but to exceed them. “This commitment to excellence has shaped our curriculum, faculty development, and student experience, ensuring that our graduates are equipped not only with knowledge but also with a mindset to challenge norms and innovate,” Dr. Ogutu noted.

He also highlighted the legacy SBS aims to leave behind—one that is rooted in care for others. He elaborated on the #BecauseWeCare initiative, which embodies the University’s commitment to fostering leaders who prioritize ethical values and social responsibility.

As Strathmore University Business School commemorates its 20th anniversary, its journey reflects an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. The insights and leadership of Dr. Ogutu, Dr. Caesar Mwangi, and Dr. George Njenga have not only shaped SBS’s legacy but have also set a precedent for future generations of leaders in business and beyond.

SBS’s two-decade journey stands as a testament to the transformative power of visionary leadership, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to ethical business practices. These values continue to guide the school’s mission to develop leaders who can navigate complex global challenges and drive sustainable growth in Africa and across the globe.

As SBS continues to evolve, its impact on business education in Africa and beyond remains profound, guided by the enduring principles of Wisdom, Excellence, Service to Society, and Trailblazing. Learn more about Strathmore Business School here
