From October 30th to November 3rd, 2023, Strathmore University Business School (SBS) conducted a customised training for 35 participants from the Private Agricultural Sector Support (PASS) Trust, Tanzania in the Financing Agribusiness Value Chains Programme. This tailored program was specifically designed for PASS Trust, with the participants including; 2 Directors, Zone Managers, and Business Development Managers.
The primary objective of this training was to equip the participants with a comprehensive understanding of agribusiness value chains, insights into farmers’ perspectives, and skills to refine their service structures. It further aimed to equip the participants with the knowledge and best practice insights to minimize the risks associated with PASS Trust’s intermediary role, facilitating connections between farmers and financial institutions, ultimately enhancing their support for the agricultural sector.
PASS Trust provides agribusiness credit guarantee services for farmers in Tanzania through various financial institutions. Serving as a financial intermediary, PASS collaborates with multiple financial entities to streamline farmers’ access to credit for agribusiness activities. Their provision of credit guarantees reduces risks for financial institutions, improving the likelihood of farmers securing loans, consequently fostering agricultural development and productivity.
