SBS Hosts the 2025 Cohort of the Programme for Management Development (PMD)

Middle-level managers are critical to an organization’s success, acting as the essential link between senior leadership and operational teams. They translate strategic goals into actionable plans, ensuring execution aligns with the organization’s vision. Beyond managing teams, they drive change, foster innovation, and maintain operational excellence. Empowering them with strong leadership skills is vital for organizations aiming for sustainable growth in today’s competitive business environment.

Between April 22nd and 25th, 2025, Strathmore University Business School launched the second cohort of the Programme for Management Development (PMD). This cohort of 73 dynamic mid-level managers from various sectors represents industries like banking, aviation, energy, and academia, reflecting the program’s wide-reaching relevance.

The Programme’s first module, “Understanding and Managing Oneself and Others,” focused on foundational leadership competencies like self-awareness, interpersonal effectiveness, and leadership agility. Key topics included leading upwards, adapting to line managers, and conducting candid self-assessments. Agnes Ruoro, an esteemed faculty member at SBS, facilitated these sessions, providing participants with practical insights and real-world perspectives.

Designed to challenge conventional thinking, the PMD encourages middle managers to bridge the gap between strategy and execution, fostering innovative solutions to contemporary business challenges. This Programme equips professionals with the leadership tools needed for personal and organizational growth. Focusing on strategic thinking, leadership agility, and innovation, it prepares managers to thrive in increasingly complex business environments, unlocking their potential for impactful contributions.
