Between 28th August and 1st September 2023, Strathmore University Business School hosted more than 100 Executive MBA students from IESE Business School in Spain as part of the Doing Business in Africa Programme. The visiting MBA students represented a diverse group, hailing from four different IESE Business School campuses: Barcelona, Madrid, Sao Paulo, and Munich.
The Doing Business Programme is designed by Strathmore University Business School and IESE Business School and aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of doing business in Africa for the visiting students.
The intense week-long Programme is designed to offer a rich learning experience to the visiting MBA students and featured in-class sessions, led by faculty members from both Strathmore University Business School and IESE Business School. The sessions provided a platform for the students to delve into various aspects of African business through case studies and experiential learning, thus deepening their knowledge and perspectives.
Beyond the classroom, the Programme facilitated collaborative syndicate discussions, where Executive MBA students from IESE joined forces with Masters’ students from SBS. Together, they engaged in negotiation exercises and tackled the executive challenge, which aimed to expose them to multicultural business practices and foster an exchange of expertise across various industries.
One of the highlights of the Programme was the opportunity for the visiting students to embark on local company visits which provided valuable insights into different sectors of the Kenyan economy. The students visited four local companies: Twiga Foods, Unga Group Limited, Davis and Shirtliff, and ABM East Africa. This hands-on experience allowed them to witness firsthand the diverse industries that contribute to Kenya’s dynamic business landscape.
The MBA for Executives Programme at Strathmore University Business School is tailored for individuals with at least two years of managerial experience who are eager to expand their knowledge and expertise. This Programme is designed to help participants unlock their inner potential, discover new horizons, and develop the competencies necessary for advancement in their careers.
