On 18th May 2023, participants of the Senior Management Leadership Programme, Class of 2023, visited Twiga Foods and Davis & Shirtliff Group as part of their industry visit. The industry visit is an important part of the Programme and aims to immerse the participants into the practicality of business operations and more so gives them an experiential learning opportunity.
During the visits, the participants were able to immerse themselves into the business operation of the two companies and better understand best industry practices in the specific industries. This year’s visit was at Tatu City where the participants interacted with two state-of-the-art distribution and warehousing facilities.
At Twiga Foods, the participants were hosted at the Twiga Foods distribution center, and they were able to see how the organization leverages technology to drive their transformational agenda of the informal retail economy in Africa. Twiga Foods is a technology-driven company that connects consumers, vendors and suppliers, providing access to high quality foods, products and retail services in Africa.
At Davis and Shirtliff, they visited the company’s warehouses at Tatu City and had the opportunity to interact with the management team. David & Shirtliff Group provides water and energy solutions that help improve lives – these range from solar, to water treatment, chemicals to pumps, and smart digital technology. With it’s headquarters in Industrial Area, Nairobi, the Group moved their warehousing to the Tatu City location in 2020.
