Strathmore Business School in partnership with the Coast Development Authority trained 73 small and micro entrepreneurs in Kwale County on business management skills. The training was officially opened by the Governor of Kwale County, Mr. Sammy Mvurya together with the CDA Managing Director, Mr. James Kahindi and the SBS Special Projects Director, Mr. David Mugun.
It was an intense 5 day training that was conducted in Swahili but it was very rewarding Said David Mugun. We are determined to effect true transformation at the grassroots and we will continue in the same spirit at various regions in the country, he continued.
The participants were selected from various sectors of the coastal economic landscape; from fish sellers to farmers, shop owners to tour operators among others. Participants were lead through sessions on loan management, business opportunities and challenges, marketing management, business plan development and group action plans, which the Coast Development Authority will follow up on as a monitoring and evaluation plan.
At the end of the training, participants were granted certificates and a book authored by David Mugun titled 10 tips of running successful micro businesses.
