In line with its mandate to Transform Business Leaders in the 21st Century, Strathmore Business School has launched a new program, whose main objectives seek to create a deeper understanding of the human person and dignity of work, enhance workplace motivation through the application of ethical management practices and also give a solid theoretical foundation to those interested in pursuing training in the area of family development, as well as those pursuing research interests in the area of organization, work and family.
Managing Core People, a one year executive program, under the Centre for Research on Organisations, Work and Family (CROWF), targets to train business managers, human resource practitioners, functional heads, supervisors, team leaders and even mentors/coaches with a view to provide a solid understanding of the most critical aspects of work.
Being an executive program and not an academic one, Managing Core People will have an option for those who wish to sit exams in the same, with only the participants who will proceed to do Masters of Applied Philosophy and Ethics (MAPE) sitting exams.
Rationale behind Managing Core People
Research from leading organisations has concluded that managing people is key to achieving vision, mission and targets of an organisation. However, several questions remain unanswered. What is the key to fully engaging people? How can an organisation get the loyalty of its employees? What is a good definition of work and why do people work? How can performance and innovation be sustainable in the long term? How does the family affect all these?
Answering these questions will help to give a better understanding of how to sustain a more human and productive environment for the organizations. This requires encouraging the integration between work and life practices. In the quest to find the specific answers for organisations that Centre for Research on Organizations, Work and Family (CROWF) has introduced the Managing Core People Program (MCP).
This program has taken us an entire year to develop, shares Program Director, Mr. John Branya. The content of the course borrows from the study of wisdom, or what is commonly referred to as Philosophy.
This program has a key goal to enable people understand themselves and others to help people lead an effective, honourable and happy life in every social context, family, work and society at large. It is hoped that the knowledge, skills and experience shall help manage people better in the organization, or if in the homes the family is better managed.
The program is a one year modular executive course. One can take one, two or all the units of each semester, depending on ones availability and resources. There are only 5-7 working days lectures for every module and two Saturdays.
The rest of the course is online coaching at ones own pace.
The program is executive. One shall get an Executive Certificate at the end of the Program. Some assignments shall keep one reading, guided by a coach.
The program has no exams. Exams will be optional. Those who will eventually do a Masters in Applied Philosophy and Ethics will have to sit exams.
The program has very experienced faculty. The professors have a wealth of detailed concepts and research regarding managing people. These professors have knowledge and experience in these fields that will open newer horizons and expand ones cultural diversity.
The program is affordable. This course costs Kshs 360,000/-, all inclusive. Payment plans are possible.
