Eng. Vincent Sidai Project Manager, Bamburi Cement Limited and an alumnus of the Program for Management Development (PMD) acknowledges the program for the transformation both in his career and personal life. Sidais work schedule involves managing engineering projects from the design stage to the construction stage. He asserts that his decision to enroll for the PMD program was one of the best decisions he has made as it was an eye-opener.
PMD has added value into my life. I have sharpened my people-management skills as I lead a diverse team in which harmony is vital in order to achieve goals. I have learnt to better manage communication and conflict resolution.
I gained confidence to state and stand by my decisions especially in the work place. The confidence to state my position on issues and the urge to touch peoples lives has led me to vie for Governorship in Busia County in the 2013 General Elections.
The business performance has improved through customer service and innovations that have created value in order to align business practices with the latest trends in economic conditions. After completing PMD, We began a project that reflects innovation in the cement manufacturing industry in the region. We are completing the testing stage soon and will release the report thereafter.
My focus on business management and network has been broadened both locally and internationally in Kenya and in South Africa. We had the opportunity to learn at the Gordon Institute of Business Sciences, South Africa during an international module where we interacted with fellow PMD participants which broadened our global perspective on business.
I have increased my skill sets to work to an advantage. Through emotional intelligence, I am able to read and evoke peoples emotions for positivity in the workplace and at my county when I am campaigning. I am a better marketer, which is important for me now especially that I am a politician.
I have understood that ones life does not rotate solely on his/her career. It is important to balance ones work and family life through work-life balance, which I am currently practicing despite my busy schedule.
Strathmore Business School is a great learning institution. I enjoyed myself and my learning experience. PMD was a transformational program as it was enlightening and has enabled me to discover myself. The decision to join the program at SBS was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
For any business or company to succeed, it is vital to identify the talent and prowess of seasoning leaders who will propagate efficiency and effectiveness throughout all the organisational systems.
PMD is designed to prepare these senior management potentials for a level of greater responsibility. It is fashioned to equip functional managers with the tools necessary to develop them into multifaceted leaders, hence taking up greater challenges and decisions to attract prosperity within a company.
