MBA Healthcare Management Students visit Chitkara Business School, India

Between 7th and 11th April 2025, students from the MBA Healthcare Management Programme at Strathmore University Business School (SBS) embarked on a transformative international immersion at Chitkara Business School, India. Themed “Healthcare Ecosystem and Innovations”, the visit marked a strategic collaboration between Africa and India—offering participants a rich academic and cultural experience grounded in one of the world’s most dynamic healthcare landscapes.

The immersion began with an engaging exhibition that spotlighted cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions shaping India’s healthcare system. Under the expert guidance of Prof. Keerti Pradhan from Chitkara’s Department of Healthcare Management, students took a deep dive into a week-long Programme designed to unpack the diverse dimensions of India’s healthcare ecosystem—from teleconsultation advancements to the complexities of rural healthcare delivery.

Beyond the classroom, participants undertook insightful site visits to leading hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and medical equipment manufacturers. These experiential learning moments provided a first-hand look into India’s healthcare operations and innovations.

On Day One, the students visited Livasa Hospital in Mohali, where they explored operational excellence and strategies for delivering affordable healthcare. They later toured Allengers Medical Systems Factory in Derabassi to learn about its journey in manufacturing world-class medical equipment.

Day two included immersive tours of PGIMER Hospital in Chandigarh and Paras Hospital in Panchkula, which are renowned for their commitment to high-quality healthcare services. On day three, the focus shifted to industry, with visits to Morepen Laboratories Limited and Sunpharma in Baddi, two major players in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

As the module concluded, students walked away with fresh perspectives and a deeper appreciation for India’s healthcare innovation, infrastructure, and policy frameworks. This immersion not only enhanced their academic understanding but also nurtured cross-cultural collaboration, reinforcing the global nature of healthcare challenges and solutions.

Outside the classroom, students enjoyed moments of relaxation and exploration—experiencing the vibrant culture and scenic beauty of Chandigarh, making the journey both enlightening and memorable.
