On Friday, June 21, 2024, participants of the Managing Healthcare Businesses (MHB) Programme embarked on an insightful industry visit to MP Shah Hospital, with the aim of gaining firsthand experience and deeper understanding of the complexities involved in managing a healthcare facility.
During the visit, participants engaged with the MP Shah Hospital management team, learning about the hospital’s operational dynamics and strategic initiatives. The comprehensive tour included key areas such as the kitchen, casualty department, maternity ward, and various other critical sections of the hospital. As part of the hospital tour, the participants were also introduced to the functionality and usage of different medical equipment, enhancing their practical knowledge of hospital operations.
The MP Shah team further shared details of their ongoing activities and noteworthy initiatives. Among these was the hosting of the 5th Annual Hybrid Diabetes Symposium in collaboration with the Lions Sight First Eye Hospital, reflecting the hospital’s commitment to addressing diabetes through education and collaboration. Additionally, the launch of a transplant support group aimed at empowering kidney patients was highlighted, showcasing the hospital’s dedication to providing comprehensive care and support for chronic illness patients.
The hospital management also discussed their continued partnership with the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), aimed at enhancing access to affordable healthcare services. This collaboration is a crucial part of MP Shah Hospital’s commitment to supporting the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Kenya, aligning with national health goals to provide accessible and affordable care for all.
