Strathmore University Business School celebrates Dr. Freshia Waweru, a senior faculty member, on her appointment to the Monetary Policy Committee by the Cabinet Secretary for Treasury in Kenya.
Dr. Freshia Waweru teaches Derivatives Markets, Advanced Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, Managerial Finance, Corporate Finance, International Finance, Public Sector Financial Management, Financial and Management Accounting, among other courses.
In January 2015, she was appointed as a member of the Capital Markets Master Plan Implementation Committee and the chairperson of the Financial Deepening Committee, especially on the introduction of derivatives market in Kenya. Later, in April 2015, she was appointed as a member of the Anti – Money Laundering Board where she was a member of the Finance Committee and the Chair of the HR Committee.
Later in October 2015, she was appointed as a member of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) Derivatives Risk Management Committee. In May 2018, Dr. Waweru was appointed as a member of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) Board.
This milestone reflects Dr. Waweru’s profound expertise in economics and her commitment to advancing policies that foster economic resilience and sustainable growth. Her role on the Monetary Policy Committee places her at the forefront of shaping Kenya’s financial future, ensuring stability and progress for generations to come.
