The Fourth Cohort of the Absa Manager Essentials Programme Kicks Off Virtually

  Jul 10, 2020

The fourth South African cohort of the Absa Manager Essentials Programme kicked off virtually on 29th June 2020. The Absa Manager Essential Programme is a customised programme for the Absa management teams. SBS has been training the Absa management teams since 2018 and it has been a great experience for both Absa and SBS.

This programme aims at building and strengthening the management capabilities of the Absa team by embedding best practice management skills. The training looks to support Absa to develop managers who will lead and manage in a way that entrenches the new organizational culture.

Absa Manager Essential training is focused on new managers who have joined the organization as well as managers who have transitioned to new managerial roles in the organization. It also took a multi-country approach with training in different countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, all served by the Absa Group.

To date, through this programme, SBS has trained Absa management employees in five countries across, East and South Africa. The next phase will include countries in West Africa as the Strathmore University Business School continues expanding its footprint to the rest of Africa.

By going through this Programme, new Absa managers can transition effectively from being individual contributors to team managers. On top of that, managers new to Absa are equipped with the organization’s management standards.
