“On top of educating the population, universities must also be able to provide solutions to social and economic problems in society,” Prof. John Odhiambo, Vice-Chancellor, Strathmore University, said during the graduation ceremony.
In his keynote address, Mr. John Gachora, CEO NCBA Bank noted that the bank was fully committed to supporting small and medium enterprises. He gave a personal experience of leading with authenticity and integrity during the merger between the NIC Bank and CBA Bank, “the merger brought about a lot of queries and questions causing fear and uncertainty in both the banks’ CEOs. In the face of uncertainty, what mattered most was the authenticity with which I explained all my decisions to my NIC Staff members.”
Speaking during the Annual Executive education graduation at the Strathmore University Business School, UNCTAD Secretary-General, Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi spoke about how technology, manufacturing and agriculture industries can work together to promote Kenya’s economic growth. “Some manufacturers are already using robotics to increase their output at the same time reducing labor-intensive work.”
