Strathmore University won the Academy of Business in Society Award (ABIS), Sustainability Award 2017, for the project “Sustainability Strategy Agenda – End poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all.”
The Academy of Business in Society Award (ABIS) seeks to appreciate and recognize universities for their efforts in aligning their vision and objectives to the Sustainable Developmental Goals. The contest aims to boost innovation in sustainability projects and to strengthen business-academic collaboration.
The ABIS award jury was chaired by Count Etienne Davignon – Belgian Minister of State & Honorary Advisory Board Chairman of ABIS, and Alfons Sauquet, Chairman of the Board of Directors, ABIS: Which jointly with the Colloquium participants selected the winning project.
The competition attracted applications from 22 universities globally; with 9 universities being shortlisted for submission during the colloquium: Strathmore University, Amsterdam University, ESADE Business school, Copenhagen Business School, GKS, E4Impact (educational initiative in Africa in partnership with Cattolica University (ITA)), ESMT Berlin, A2A – Italian Multiutilities Company and Comillas University.
