SBS, National Treasury Training, Building Capacity in policy makers in Financial Institutions

The National Treasury, Kenya School of Monetary Studies and FSDK, partnered with Strathmore Business School (SBS) with an aim of building capacity in policy makers in financial institutions.

Upon a needs assessment analysis, Strathmore Business School identified shortcomings which befall policy makers during policy implementation. The findings were yielding, culminating to the coining of a five module curriculum  Program, aimed at meeting policy making limitations. The curriculum will also be supplemented with units in effective communication, policy presentation and individual coaching sessions.

The training aimed at enhancing policy formation and  translating policies into notable strategic action plans, attracted 64  middle level managers policy makers in the following institution:

  • Central Bank of Kenya
  • Capital Markets Authority
  • Retirements Benefits Authority
  • International Financial Sector
  • National Treasury Board

The participants will be taken through these five modules:

  • Policy analysis, formation, and implementation.
  •  Financial systems and linkages.
  • Research: After the 5th week, attendees will take part in a capstone program for their research. Similar to a dissertation, policy regulators will come up with policy briefs, which regulators will have to implement in their organization. The policy brief must be of quality, sufficed for implementation.
  • Risk Management: This will empower policy analysts in risk identification  and management
  •  Policy Regulation.
