Strathmore University Business School graduated 36 participants from the Executive Management Programme (EMP). The participants trained through this customized Programme are beneficiaries of the African Catholic Scholarship Program, Kenya (ACSP – Kenya), which is funded by Porticus Africa. This Programme took place between 25th – 29th January 2021, at Donum Dei Vocational Centre in Karen.

The objective of the Executive Management Programme is to increase the number of catholic sisters, priests, brothers, and laypeople with management skills to effectively lead the church’s ministry to the people of East Africa. It further aims to build leadership and management capabilities within the Africa Catholic Scholarship Program and embed best practices management skills based on research.

Our journey began in November 2018, when Porticus Africa awarded SBS a Grant to develop a Curriculum on Executive Management Skills. This Programme was to be implemented in the African Catholic Scholarship program hosted in three universities in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The curriculum was then piloted in Kenya and Tanzania and, a review and presentation of the final EMP curriculum was done to Porticus Africa towards the end of 2019.

In September of 2020, Porticus Africa awarded SBS another Grant to implement the EMP Programme in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This group of participants marks the first cohort of the EMP Programme in Kenya.

Porticus Africa appointed Strathmore University Business School (SBS) as their knowledge partner to develop the beneficiaries through the African Catholic Scholarship Program on executive management skills, thus the Executive Management Programme designed and developed by SBS.

The Africa Catholic Scholarship Program provides access to educational opportunities and additional courses including servant leadership, child protection, and safeguarding, executive business skills, and Catholic Social Teaching to consecrated women and men and laypersons working with and for the Church who have been selected for their future leadership roles.
