Wednesday 2nd May 2012 marked the sensational signing of the Samsung and Strathmore Business School Memorandum of Association that will see MBA students in the institution use the e-board technology. The whiteboard technology enables professors to put in writings on a Samsung e-board, with each student having Samsung tabs from whence they can save and access their reading material. Students attend a classroom from their tabs where they can exchange materials, ask questions and discuss real-time either with peers or with the professor. The professor has control over resources on the tabs of each of the scholars with the ability to lock some resources such as the internet enhancing concentration during the class.
Speaking during the ceremony Dr. Edward Mungai highlighted that SBS is on a path towards improved content conveyance by use of technology, yet at the same time, go green by digitalizing its operations. This is also in line with the schools green concept in as far as its facilities are concerned, which saw it acquire the best green building development in Africa, by the African Real Estate and Housing Finance Academy. He culminated by thanking the Samsung team for their support and promising the audience of a great value-additional collaboration with Samsung for better service delivery. Samsung Managing director, Mr. Robert Ngeru informed the audience that the project was the first of its kind in an educational institution in Africa. This has placed the business school at the pinnacle of technological usage among edifying institutions. The ceremony was ended by a vote of thanks from Paul Ouma, Director of MBA programs in the Business School. He pointed out the continued success of the two organizations in their respective fields and thanked all the involved members in the Business School and Samsung for their commitment to making a deal out of simple baby steps just a few months ago.
The MBA Modular class will be the pioneer users of the technology within the institution, after which the same will be rolled out to the rest of the Business Schools programs. In a glamorous ceremony where there was signing of an agreement that will see Strathmore Business School not only become a more green oriented institution but also a top-notch learning vehicle. The two partners continue to dominate in their respective spheres of operation.
