Micro and Small Enterprise Training held for Entrepreneurs in Lamu

  Feb 20, 2014

“The SBS mission is to transform our society by teaching people skills that they will use to enrich their businesses and their lives.” These were the words echoed by Dr. Njenga as he commissioned the SBS special projects team as they set out to provide Micro and Small Enterprise training to 195 entrepreneurs in Lamu County from the 10th – 21st February 2014. The training was enabled by a joint partnership between Strathmore Business School and the Coast Development Authority.

The Micro and Small Enterprise training, which began in 2013, has seen over 400 entreprenurers trained in all the counties in Mombasa. ” We the people in the coastal region have been lagging behind for a number of years now. We are keen to partner with Strathmore Business School to ensure that the people of Lamu are equipped with the necessary business skills to grow their businesses and enrich their lives,” said H.E Issa Timamy – Governor, Lamu.

The entrepreneurs were drawn from various sectors in Lamu County and were trained on how to develop business plans, loan management, marketing management, business ethics and debtors and creditors’ management. At the end of the training, the participants were guided to draft action plans, which outlined the objectives they would seek to achieve within a period of six months. The Coastal Development Authority will then follow-up with the entrepreneurs to ensure that all the objectives they drafted in the action plans are implemented.
