Ms. Mary Luseka Strathmore Business School’s Master in Business Administration student was recently appointed the acting Chief Executive Officer of Brand Kenya Board (BKB) by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Hon. Najib Balala. Ms Luseka takes over from Mary Kimonye who has served in the board for six years since its inception.
Before her appointment, Ms Luseka was the head of strategy and planning at the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) where she oversaw the development of Kenya’s new marketing strategy for tourism and the recently launched Charters Incentives program.
She was also secretary to the task force on tourism recovery, which was constituted by President Uhuru Kenyatta to aid the tourism sector in the wake of terrorism attacks.
Previously, Ms Luseka worked with the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) as the Acting Group Marketing manager where she steered various marketing initiatives like “Shinda Acre na KCB”.
While taking up the new position Ms Luseka thanked the Cabinet Secretary for giving her the opportunity to serve the country in this capacity.
Brand Kenya Board was established to coordinate marketing initiatives and enhance Kenya’s image, national identity and manage its international reputation.
BKB is synonymous for running “Kenya House” at the 2012 London Olympics and the “Nitakuwepo” Campaigns.
Its activities have been geared towards rallying citizens towards a common goal in order to inspire pride and patriotism while promoting Kenya’s image locally and internationally.
