The IESE MBA students began their Doing Business in Africa International Module at Strathmore Business School on Monday 14th January 2013. The intensive 10 days-long module was aimed at giving the students insights into what doing business in Africa involves, as well as the challenges facing businesses in Kenya.
Some of the sessions covered during the first week of the module were Doing Business in Africa, Africa: Economical & Political Scope and Tourism. The sessions were taught by a well seasoned pool of faculty from Kenya and Spain who were Dr. George Njenga, Dr. Fred Ogola, Dr. Robert Mudida, Julius Kipngetich, Prof. Alex Lago and Prof. Ninno Vaccaro.
The students garnered experiences from Jay Ireland – CEO, GE Africa, Dr. Ducan Onyango – Acumen Fund, Josep Oriol – Private Equity in Africa, Thomas Kibua – AMREF who were some of the key industry players who spoke during the guest speaker sessions.
This is the first time that IESE Business School brought their students to Africa for a learning session. The group comprised of nearly 30 students drawn from different nationalities.
