Strathmore Business School is introducing a first ever course in the region on Financial Econometrics. The four day intensive course with EViews is set to run from the 24th to 27th April 2012. Financial Econometrics is the application of statistical techniques to problems in finance and it aims at providing participants with an understanding of the key tools for conducting empirical analysis available in EViews. The course will use local and global datasets. The EViews software provides simple and interactive data analysis, regression, time series and forecasting tools on Windows based computers.
Participants will be enabled to get hands-on experience with real world data and improve their ability to conduct empirical research. It will be particularly useful to academics and practitioners interested in applied quantitative financial economic research. The target group includes postgraduate students at both masters and doctoral level. It is also aimed at individuals in central banks, ministries of finance, research institutions, capital markets, banking, investment management companies and non-governmental organisations who use financial econometric analysis. The sessions will be structured into 1 hour fifteen minutes discussion on the topic in question and EViews tools, followed by 1 hour fifteen minutes of hands on tutorial with data sets. The course will be taught by highly qualified lecturers from SBS with vast experience in econometric analysis and modelling.
