Strathmore Business School’s Uganda Leadership Excellence Academy graduated its inaugural cohort of senior executives from the National Social Security Fund – Uganda on 8th November 2017. The NSSF Leadership Excellence Academy programs were customised to suite and address the leadership needs of the Fund.
The 3-modular program attended by 70 of NSSF’s senior managers was carefully designed to address self-leadership (Module 1), performance and governance (Module 2) and Culture and Leadership coaching (Module 3), with both the PDA and Clarity 4D (Psychometris assessments). The modules were followed up by both individual and team coaching to enable the participants translate classroom knowledge into tangible measurable impact.
The program exceeded the expectations of the Fund, with the MD Mr. Richard Byarugaba equating the experiential learning as to those offered by Ivy league universities such as Wharton and Harvard.
The program was deliberately crafted to address leadership readiness for change given the Fund’s strategic focus on Business and Operational changes. The participants had the opportunity to deeply reflect on how to lead themselves, their families and their communities; epitomizing service beyond self.
Supported by a seasoned bench of faculty members and executive coaches with an understanding of the public sector within both local and international settings; the program made use of learning methodologies such as the use of case studies, simulations and reflections.
SBS is proud to have worked with the Fund and associated with the able leadership that is visionary and committed to excellence. Post program support interventions are still being discussed including trainings for other levels, case study writing, executive one on one coaching support for ExCo and coaching skills training for their managers.
