Professional women gathered together at Strathmore Business School on 6th July 2012 for a breakfast session themed Developing Your Leadership Journey. The guest speaker, Gladys Ogallo, CEO Virtual HR stated that women in the work place receive pressure from the top and bottom both at the workplace and at home. Its important for a woman to understand her own power play especially in the work place from the board and colleagues.
They should come up with formulas that work for positivity. They should know and understand the political landscape, their leadership style, power zone and organizational politics.
To be successful one has to learn to be a network connector by making the most of their networks. Most importantly, one has to be a model of integrity.
The breakfast session introduced the women to an international conference that will be held in conjunction with Forward Networking and Strathmore Business School. The 2-day conference dubbed Women in Africa will be at the business school starting on the 17th October 2012. The conference will bring together over 300 women from corporations, public sector, N.G.Os, international organisations and entrepreneurial world who all believe in the importance of promoting awareness of women leaders, the importance of highlighting their individual stories and inspiring future leaders by providing an open, inclusive and stimulating forum to learn, network and share ideas.
