Fernandes Barasa, a current Advanced Manager Program (AMP) participant is the newly appointed acting Managing Director for The Board of Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco). Barasa served as the head of finance in the management board, before he was appointed to replace the agency’s founding chief, Joel Kiilu who is set to retire in September.
Barasa’s repute in leadership, expanse experience in public finance, risk management, change management, and corporate governance has seen him garner such high-ending positions in his fulfilling career. He is the chairman of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). Prior to joining Ketraco, Barasa worked as a Treasury manager and later as head of factories accounts at Kenya Tea Development Agency Limited.
Ketraco, a high voltage electricity transmitter company owned by the government, has been significant in forming the foundation of the National Transmission Grid, in coherence with the attainment of vision 2030.
