Joan’s credentials speak volumes about her commitment to excellence. As a Master Certified Coach (MCC) by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and holding team certification, she embodies the pinnacle of professional coaching standards.

Joan played a pivotal role in establishing the ICF Uganda Charter Chapter as one of the founder members and having the honor of being the founding president of the chapter. When she thinks of the coaching space, this is what Joan considers her biggest contribution. As a professional in the personal development space, Joan was shocked when she learned in a business class that there were no barriers to entry in the space. She was disturbed having worked for two reputable organisations, New Vision and World Vision International. In her quest to find out how the industry could have barriers to entry, she discovered ICF, registered immediately to become a member, and tirelessly worked with a Strathmore based coaching bench to establish the Uganda Chapter in two months. This two-months milestone was record breaking in the history of ICF where many chapters take years to be formed.

Joan’s coaching approach, rooted in the Awareness-Clarity-Choice framework that facilitates transformation coaching and complemented by her proficiency in the GROW model, is designed to help clients gain deep insights, clear understanding, and make empowered choices.

Specializing in leadership development, succession planning, and transition coaching, Joan supports executive committees, board-level members, C-suite executives, and senior managers across a range of industries. Her expertise and experience span sectors such as media, financial services—including banking, insurance, fund management, and pension schemes—NGOs, health, and agriculture.

Joan’s journey into coaching began with a passion for empowering women in news (WIN), helping them to break through barriers and assume leadership roles. One of her notable success stories is facilitating a TV personality’s dream of becoming a prime news anchor in just four months, yet the client’s dream was to achieve this goal in five years. This achievement, among many others, underscores her ability to drive rapid and meaningful transformation in her clients.

Her dedication to continuous learning and professional development culminated in earning the prestigious MCC designation, positioning her as a leader in the coaching profession in Uganda and East and Central Africa. Joan served on coaching benches for renowned organizations such as ABSA Bank, the US Mission in Zimbabwe, USAID Policy Link, DAI, Center for Agriculture Leadership in Africa (CALA), UNAIDS, and Afreximbank. Her expertise extends to designing coaching interventions for global NGOs like VillageReach, showcasing her ability to create impactful programs tailored to diverse needs. She has also designed coaching interventions for local entities in the country such as NSSF and Stanbic Bank.
