Between 1st – 2nd November 2022, we hosted the Kenya WASH Solar Symposium, organized by the USAID under the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Finance (WASH-FIN) Project in partnership with National Treasury (GOK), Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Ministry of Energy, USAID, DANIDA, GIZ’s Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa (CoM SSA) and Strathmore University.
The symposium aimed to promote collaboration and learning amongst key stakeholders for the scaling of solar power in the water and sanitation sector in Kenya.
The symposium pulled together 150 participants from four countries (Kenya, Uganda, United States and Zambia). The organizations represented included: the governments of Kenya and Zambia: County Governments, energy and water Regulators, Water Sector Funds, Water Service Providers/Commercial Utilities, Solar Entrepreneurs – Technology providers, Installers, Contractors, Financial Institutions – banks, private investors, MFIs, DFIs and Development Partners/ NGOs – USAID, DANIDA, GIZ CoM SSA, UNHCR, World Vision,

The Hub endeavours to ensure that water professionals in Africa and beyond have the competencies to govern water resources and services with efficiency and integrity. This is significant towards its vision of transforming the water sector in Africa.
