Kellen Kariuki Appointed Associate Dean – Executive Education at Strathmore University Business School

The Strathmore University Management Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Kellen Eileen Kariuki as the Associate Dean, Executive Education, at Strathmore University Business School.

Kellen brings a wealth of expertise in banking, strategy, corporate governance, finance, leadership, audit, and risk management. She has held several senior leadership positions during her tenure at Citibank and as the first Chief Executive Officer and Managing Trustee of the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA).

With over 15 years of non-executive board experience across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, Kellen’s leadership is widely recognized. She currently serves as the Board Chair of Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited and Standard Chartered Investment Services and is the immediate past Chair of Citibank Tanzania Limited. Kellen is also a Director at Citibank Uganda and Chair of the Citibank Provident Fund. Her extensive board experience includes positions with Citi Trust (Kenya) Limited, the Kenya Roads Board, Amref Health Africa (where she chairs the Audit, Risk, and Compliance Committee), Amref Flying Doctors, and the IFC. Furthermore, she is a founding member of the Board of Advisors of Strathmore University Business School and serves as a Director of the Strathmore University Foundation.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to Kenya, Kellen was awarded the prestigious “Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear” (MBS) by the President of Kenya in December 2003.

Kellen holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, both from the United States International University (USIU) Africa. She also holds a Master of Science in International Human Resource Management from Cranfield University, UK. Kellen is a Fellow of the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (FCPA) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Business and Management at Strathmore University Business School.
