On Tuesday, 30th January 2024, we hosted the Annual Strathmore Global Institute MSME & Social Enterprise Conference 2024 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Kampala

Organized in collaboration with the Sisters Blended Value Project, the conference brought together more than 100 entrepreneurs from across diverse business sectors in Uganda, key stakeholders in the financial services sector as well as catholic sisters representing various congregations, at the forefront of impactful social enterprises. This added a unique dimension to the event.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Elizabeth Gachenga, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic & Student Affairs at Strathmore University, passionately advised MSMEs and social enterprises to transcend reliance on bootstrapping for funding. She urged exploration of sustainable alternatives, setting the tone for a forward-thinking discourse.

During the keynote address, Dr. Dr. Edward Isingoma Matsiko, Managing Partner at Pearl Capital Partners emphasized the imperative for MSMEs and SEs to strategically organize themselves. Aligning their interests with robust business models, he noted, is the cornerstone for ensuring success in today’s ever-evolving business landscape.

This conference served not only as a knowledge-sharing platform but also as a nexus for collaboration and networking, fostering a dynamic ecosystem for the growth and sustainability of MSMEs and Social Enterprises.
