Between 2nd and 6th October 2023, executives of the MBA for Executives Programme at Strathmore University Business School visited IESE Business School in Spain for their International module.
This year’s module, themed “Managerial Decisions Across Cultures,” delved deep into critical aspects of international business, offering insights into the complex world of global economics, strategic decision-making, globalization trends, governance, and others.
The week-long module consisted of in-class sessions, company visits, and engaging simulation activities. Moreover, it fostered cross-cultural interactions bringing together the participants from Strathmore University Business School, IESE Business School, and Lagos Business School in Nigeria.
The module commenced with a focus on strategy and globalization with participants engaging in thought-provoking discussions concerning the global economic outlook, geopolitics, and the distinctive global strategy framework. These discussions also included a comprehensive examination of the current global economic landscape, with special attention to advanced, emerging, and developing economies, particularly those in sub-Saharan Africa.
Day two saw the executives visit Montserrat Abbey and Sanctuary. Guided by a compelling case study titled “Montserrat Abbey and Sanctuary: Moving into a Second Millennium,” they explored the governance framework of the monastery, its growth strategy, and key revenue generation streams, among other intriguing topics.
The module also offered the participants an opportunity to visit prominent locations such as the Camp Nou 3D Museum and Shops, Port de Barcelona, and Familia Torres in Spain. These visits provided valuable insights into various aspects of international business and culture.
