I had the privilege of completing three modules in entrepreneurship through the Sisters’ Blended Value Programme (SBVP). This transformative experience has been truly life-changing. I have gained the knowledge, skills, and confidence to launch and expand social enterprises that align with our congregation’s charism.

Throughout the training, I acquired essential operational skills that have strengthened my ability to manage our social enterprises effectively. From planning and risk assessment to resource mobilisation and stakeholder engagement, each module provided practical tools that I will immediately apply. More importantly, the program helped me understand the importance of sustainability. I am now aware that sustainability is not just a concept, but as a guiding principle for every decision we make in running our projects.

The coaching sessions were particularly impactful. Our coaches guided us in critically assessing our ideas, identifying potential challenges, and turning obstacles into opportunities. These sessions reinforced a mindset of continuous learning, encouraging me to remain open to new strategies and approaches. The guidance we received went beyond theory. The coaches shared their lived experiences, offering insight into the realities of managing a social enterprise while staying true to our religious values.

Equally invaluable were the networking opportunities provided by the program. I had the chance to connect with experts and fellow religious leaders who are equally committed to creating positive social impact. These interactions have opened doors to resources, advice, and strategies for raising capital. These are tools that are already proving instrumental as we work to expand our dream Kindergarten. Today, we are actively implementing plans to expand our reach and serve learners, ensuring our work has a meaningful and lasting impact.

The program also fostered personal growth. I have gained a deeper understanding of my own strengths and areas for development. We were introduced to Clarity 4D, and learned about the different colours, how they behave, and how to interact with them, especially when you are in a leadership role. This has strengthened my leadership and decision-making skills. I am now more confident in taking initiative, collaborating with others, and embracing innovative solutions in managing our social enterprises.

As a congregation, we celebrate the SBVP for empowering us to take crucial steps toward sustainability. The skills, networks, and insights gained through this program are already transforming our approach to social enterprise, enabling us to better serve our community and extend our impact beyond immediate beneficiaries. By combining our religious mission with practical business strategies, we are now thinking of creating projects that are not only financially viable but also socially transformative.

I am proud to be part of this journey. The SBVP has provided a foundation for growth, innovation, and sustainability. As a congregation, we will leverage these acquired skills for years to come. It is my hope that more religious communities will embrace this opportunity, recognising that strategic, well-managed social enterprises can be a powerful tool for positive change in society.
