On Friday, 5th December, Strathmore University Business School (SBS) came alive with pomp and colour as more than 200 business leaders from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, and Tanzania graduated from its executive education programs, marking an inspiring moment of pride, progress, and purpose.

The ceremony, themed “Africa’s Promise, Your Responsibility: Positioning Organizations for Global Impact,” celebrated not only individual achievement but a shared commitment to shaping the continent’s future.

Dr. Caesar Mwangi, Executive Dean of SBS, gave the welcoming remarks, reflecting on the Business School’s 20-year journey. He spoke of the bold vision that founded the Business School: a belief that Africa needed leadership rooted not just in technical competence, but in ethics, service, purpose, and human dignity. Today, as I look at you, I see that vision alive: leaders prepared for a world that is dynamic and demanding,” Dr. Mwangi noted.

This message was echoed by Dr. Vincent Ogutu, Vice Chancellor of Strathmore University, who reminded graduates that the effectiveness of their leadership will depend not only on strategic thinking, but on empathy, integrity, and their ability to uplift those they lead. “True influence comes from a leader’s ability to uplift others, create value, and inspire progress. “Leadership is service. Leadership is human,” he said.

John Gachora, Group Managing Director of NCBA Group, in his keynote address, challenged graduates to lead with purpose and inclusion. He noted that Africa’s transformation will depend on leaders who embrace a shift in mindset, build strong organizational cultures, and remain focused on delivering meaningful outcomes. His message served as both an inspiration and a call to responsibility, urging graduates to translate their knowledge into action that elevates institutions and communities.
As the ceremony concluded, the sense of pride in the room was unmistakable. Family members celebrated, faculty reflected on yet another year of impact, and graduates stepped forward with a renewed sense of purpose. Their certificates symbolized more than academic accomplishment; they represented a commitment to integrity, service, and the responsibility of contributing to Africa’s progress.

The new graduates now join a distinguished alumni network that shapes policy, strengthens institutions, drives innovation, and transforms organizations across the continent. Their graduation marks not an end, but the beginning of a new chapter; one filled with possibility, purpose, and the promise of meaningful leadership.

This year’s graduation crowned one of the most impactful years in the history of SBS. In 2025, SBS delivered 137 executive education programmes, training 3,182 leaders from 31 African countries, Europe, and the United States. An additional 1,300 professionals participated in Executive Coaching, further affirming SBS’s dedication to developing leaders who are both competent and deeply human. Three new programmes- Operational Excellence, Retail Management, and Resource Mobilization were launched this year and were fully subscribed, reflecting the growing demand for high-quality executive training.
