Strengthening Partnerships: A Visit from Estonia’s Honorary Consul

Earlier this month, we were honored to host Kadri Humal Ayal, Honorary Consul for the Republic of Estonia in Kenya, and a team to the Estonia Development Centre for International Development (ESTDEV).

Dr. Majid Twahir, Associate Dean, Research, and Innovation at Strathmore University Business School reaffirmed the Business School’s commitment to fostering continued collaboration with Estonia through Tallin Tech University and ESTDEV.

The visit featured discussions on the advancement of the partnership and the strategic steps needed to ensure its continued success. The discussion centered on three key areas:

Student internship opportunities

Paul Ochieng, Dean of Students at Strathmore University, shared exciting news about 40 students currently engaged in internships in Estonia for a four-month period. This valuable experience offers our students practical insights and enhances their professional development.

E-Governance Masters Programme Curriculum

Dr. Julius Butime, the Dean, Strathmore University School of Computing and Engineering Sciences (SCES), provided updates on the progress of our self-paced Masters Programme in E-Governance. The curriculum development has been completed, with kick-off dates set for March and April 2024. This program promises to equip students with cutting-edge skills in e-governance, preparing them for leadership roles in the digital age.

Executive Education Programmes on E-Governance

John Sergon, Acting Chair of the ICT Authority in Kenya and an Executive Fellow at the Strathmore University Institute of Public Policy and Governance (IIPG), highlighted the importance of advancing the discussion on designing executive education Programmes in E-Governance. He noted that these specialized Programmes were a critical component to empower leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to drive effective governance in the digital era.
