Last week, Strathmore University Business entered a groundbreaking partnership with Nova Pioneer to champion the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education across Africa. In an era defined by enhanced connectivity and the pervasive value of data, Africa stands at a unique crossroads to leverage digital technologies for large-scale transformation and competitiveness.
This partnership aims to develop a comprehensive AI curriculum for students in grades K-12, with a particular focus on grades 7-12 within Nova Pioneer’s existing Innovation and Leadership classes. The initiative seeks to equip African youth with the skills and knowledge essential for thriving in an AI-driven future.
The collaboration will involve testing and delivering the K-12 AI curriculum in Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Uganda, Nigeria, and other African countries. This effort represents a significant step towards preparing the next generation of African leaders to harness the potential of AI and drive future innovation and growth on the continent.
About the Africa Media Hub
The Africa Media Hub is one of the Research Hubs at Strathmore University Business School focusing on research in financial and data journalism. Established in 2017, the AMH founding principles recognize that economic, financial and data journalism can help change the poverty narrative in Africa by creating a convergence between the private sector, policy makers, media, academia, and communities, through the effective use of Data for decision-making and telling the untold stories. It has established an Innovation, Development Data and Analytics Initiative that focusses on curating new pathways for research and citizen-based data that can enable African business communities to harness the data revolution for the benefit of society.
Through the Africa Media Hub (AMH), SBS is the only academic institution that is part of the Board of the Global Partnership on Sustainable Development and Date (GPSDD). Strathmore University also set a landmark by becoming the only University in Africa to be hosting Data for
over 5 Countries in Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal, Ghana, and Sierra Leone) under the
African Regional Data Cube (ARDC). Learn more about the Africa Media Hub here
